Update 3/1/2011: And then there were two--finalist Shelley Redinger has accepted another job.
Apparently, the site visits to the finalists' home districts had to be cancelled because of the weather last week. They have not been rescheduled and there are no plans to do so. I find this troubling--if it was important before, isn't it important now?

And today I got a letter from the chair of Ann Arbor Open's Coordinating Council encouraging parents to go to the meeting and interviews to share what is important about the Open School. I think she's right, and that message could be broadened: whether your passion is athletics or theater, your neighborhood school or a magnet, let the prospective candidates know what it is, and why it is. The school board will be listening, too.
