Schools and the Means of Education Shall Forever Be Encouraged

I took the title of this blog post from Thomas Jefferson's Northwest Ordinance (as cited in the article):
“Religion, morality, and knowledge being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged.”
