But, when my daughter briefly dated a girl, I advised her not to come out publicly while in high school. It is still a fish bowl and it is better to wait for the larger pond of college where there are all kinds of people and a lot more opportunities to be with like minded friends. I believe that it's about how teachers interact with their students. It should be friendly for it is the second home of a student when they went schooling. In fact a child spends more time in school than in their own house.
